Best medical thrillers gifts (holiday science gifts #6)

More suggestions from to help you find the right book to give as a gift to your favorite geek!
Today’s theme: medical thrillers.

All of these books have significant medical/hospital themes and settings; all but one (The Genesis Code) feature a doctor as the main character. These are not books you want to read before checking in for elective surgery. Robin Cook’s Coma is the gold standard of the genre, but this prolific writer wrote many other great medical thrillers too. Lifelines by CJ Lyons is the best ER-set thriller I’ve ever read, with great romance to boot. Isolation Ward is fresh and startling; Michael Crichton’s The Terminal Man was futuristic when written in the 1970’s but holds up well as a terrific page-turner. The Genesis Code has a religious subplot and the least medical content of this batch; Life Support by Tess Gerritsen displays the gore her readers love; and The Sisterhood by Michael Palmer is merely the first of a still-growing list of great medical thrillers by this physician-writer.
