Interview with CONTAGION science advisor Ian Lipkin

WIRED ran a great article interviewing the epidemiologist who kept it real in CONTAGION.  My geek fans should read it for more insight into the molecular machinations of the imaginary virus (which, I learned, is closely based on real-life Nipah virus), and what’s fact/what’s fiction in the CDC stuff.

I still am in shock that this movie wasn’t made as a cheap, sensational, unscientific bit of thrills.  It is a film that will have a positive impact on the public’s understanding of infectious disease, and may enhance our country’s ability to deal with a future pandemic.
