USA Science & Engineering Festival: Authors, submit a book

The 2nd USA Science & Engineering Festival, a national celebration of all things STEM (science technology engineering and math) to encourage the next generation of scientists and engineers, will culminate in an huge expo in Washington, DC in April 2012. But opportunities to participate in a variety of ways begin now. The Festival will recognize and promote books that encourage young people to pursue STEM fields. If you are an author of such a book, you should submit (by September 1st) to compete for a featured speaker slot and a book signing at the expo. Here’s what they are looking for:

What types of books are considered? The Festival Book Fair is designed to encourage science, math, technology, and engineering innovation in our youth through excellent education and exposure to great thinkers. Below are examples of books which would fall under the mission. If a book type is not listed but fulfills the stated goals of “re-invigorating the interest of our nation’s youth in science, technology, engineering and math” with excellent writing, please submit the book for consideration.

  • Novels with significant science and engineering components
  • Biographies of scientific leaders and their contributions
  • Education innovation for math and science
  • Children’s science books
  • Science fiction based on strong science
  • Popular titles about current cultural issues related to science and engineering
