Summer science nature math zoo and space camps

Summer may seem worlds away, but it’s time to start planning for summer camps.

Sports are nice, art is fine, but be sure to include at least one science or tech camp in your child’s schedule.


Sally Ride Science Camps

  • For girls grade 4-9
  • Week long, residential, hands-on at universities in CA and at MIT


  • Children ages 6-12
  • Various locations nationwide
  • Summer camps, after-school activities, parties, Scout & homeschool programs

Destination Science (formerly ScienceAdventures)

  • Texas, California, Washington, NY, other
  • Kids entering grades K-6
  • Leaders in training grades 7-11
  • Five day (daytime only) summer camps


  • Computers & technology camps on university campuses
  • Video game design, app development, digital photography, more
  • Ages 7-18
  • Weeklong day camps or residential option

National Youth Science Camp

  • One month the summer after high school graduation
  • Held in West Virginia
  • All expenses paid, competitive application (deadline for this year has passed, plan for next year!)

Space Camp & Space Academy

  • Space camp: Grades 4-6; Space Academy: grades 7-9
  • One week programs at the US Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL
  • Fall, spring, summer, and winter sessions


  • Intensive, 5 week long summer program for mathematically talented high school students
  • 2012 July 1-August 5 in Tacoma, Washington
