April 28-29, 2012, is the 2nd Annual USA Science & Engineering Festival at the Convention Center in Washington, D.C. It’s going to be a spectacular event and satellite events around the country will make it even better. Consider taking your young people to encourage them to study STEM fields!
In the meantime, USASEF has a number of things going, including a song contest. Five finalists have already been chosen, song by Becky Ferreira, Monty Harper, David Newman, and Roberto Moore. Visit this site to listen to the songs and cast a vote in two categories:
- A song that gets kids ages 2-10 interested in science or engineering
- A song that shows middle and high-school age students how cool a career in the sciences can be
Of course I must also mention that the Festival includes a Book Fair with 35 featured authors of STEM books for kids making presentations throughout the weekend. Here’s the list. While my science thriller Petroplague and many of the other books reviewed at this site are appropriate for older teens but not children, one ScienceThrillers author will be at the festival: Julie Chibbaro, author of the WONDERFUL young adult novel Deadly.
